Independent Living Skills Development

Part of Blue Sky’s mission states that all people deserve the opportunity for inclusion within their community. Individuals supported by Blue Sky have the opportunity to access their community on a daily basis if they choose to do so. Community outings are fully integrated and include a variety of activities including by not limited to recreation, shopping, volunteer and many social activities.

It is the goal of Blue Sky to support individuals in becoming active members of their communities and in turn helping communities recognize the value of the individuals supported by Blue Sky.

Blue Sky’s programs provide  opportunities for individuals to learn money management skills through the implementation of a token economy system. Individuals have a variety of opportunities to earn tokens throughout the day such as participating in learning activity, exercising, volunteering in the community, assisting their peers and  trying first before asking for help are a few examples. Then they are able to exchange their tokens actual money to spend out in the community.
